Berrien Springs High School
Secondary Resource Classroom
2016-2017
"Together, inspiring students to think, learn, achieve and care in a global community."
The focus of the secondary resource classroom is including students with special needs in general education classrooms for the majority of the time. Individual, and small group instructional approaches are used when students need additional assistance and for working toward IEP goals.
Co-teaching is done in the English classrooms in collaboration with Miss. Ross (English 9), Mrs. Smith (English 10), Ms. Luttke (English 11), Ms. Natzel (English 12), and Mr. Donley (Speech). We work together to create an atmosphere where all students are valued, they are challenged to have growth mindsets, and know that, "Fair is not everybody getting the same thing...fair is everyone getting what they need to be successful" (Kyrza 2011).
